HOW TO ADOPT
Please tell me about yourself/s and the kind of home you would offer a puppy, why you like this breed, what research you have done to ensure this type of dog would suit you, and what your plans are for your puppy in the future (eg, showing, obedience, family pet, breeding, etc).
I will perform either a telephone or personal interview with you to ensure you are a suitable parent for my babies. Upon successfully passing the interview, you will be asked to leave a deposit to secure the puppy. If for some reason you choose not to proceed with adoption, this will be fully refunded to you.
The balance will be required to be paid either on collection, or prior to collection (for interstate/international travel).
If any puppies are being shipped Internationally, I will need to follow Australian export guidelines which will incur additional costs. I can work these out with you at request.
The cost of the puppy covers the following:
- Pre-mating tests for the Dam and Sire (mum and dad) such as eyes, hips, patella;
- Ultrasounds, Veterinary support, and other birth related tests and medication required for mum;
- Raising the puppies in our home;
- Special food for mum and babies;
- Vet checks upon birth and at 6 weeks (and any other times required prior to departure to their new home);
- Puppies vet health checked: General health, Patella's checked, Wormed, Microchipped and Vaccinated; and
- Puppies are registered with Dogs Victoria for Pedigree paperwork.
You will be invited to our facebook page for frequent updates on the status of mum and babies. Photos and videos will be uploaded so you can see your new baby grow. If you are local to us (VIC), you are welcome to schedule a visit with me to see your babies in person from 10 days post their 6 week vaccinations. Prior to this time, it will not be possible for you to visit the babies in person as it may risk their health. Of course you are welcome to meet me initially too and we encourage this so you can meet my family in person. I prefer first meetings to take place at a dog show.
I am able to arrange interstate transport and will quote using 'Jetpets' (unless otherwise requested). Jetpets are my preferred transport provider.
In partnership with Pet Plan, I also offer 6 weeks of free pet insurance to allow you with sufficient time to research and find a pet insurance plan that is suitable for you. Although I perform rigorous tests and screenings, I am unable to control acts of nature or environmental incidents. I personally use Woolworths pet insurance and have never had one issue.
You will receive the pedigree papers, microchip details, immunisation papers and a puppy pack and any advice required for puppy settling into his new home. Most importantly, all of my puppies will come with 24/7 support. Typically used in the early stages of settling in, the support will last the puppies lifetime. If for some reason you are unable to keep your German Spitz dog, I will assist in re-homing him. It is very important to me that my dogs are never surrendered to shelters/pounds.
I consider myself a grandparent to all of my puppies, and as such would like to keep in touch with all of my babies. I encourage all of my adoptive parents to send in photos, videos and stories to me either by email or on my facebook page.
It is so important to me that we grow the 'fan base' of German Spitz and therefore encourage all adoptive parents to 'spread the word' about the beauty and diversity of the breed. I encourage all owners to train their new puppies with basic manners to ensure the breed is always seen in good light.
